I knew we Americans (or at least those of us in Portland and Boulder) got VWs fourth generation Transporter. However, I always thought we only got the short wheelbase minivans and Winnebago style campers. Not so, apparently. This Eurovan Camper is, as far as I can work out, the only LWB Transporter we got stateside. A dime a dozen in Europe, but definitely rare and kinda cool over here.

They are semi-common in Canada, but the resale value is ridiculous - there are dedicated dealers that sell them in some parts of the country such as Victoria and the Banff Exclusion Zone.

I think after inflation they may actually sell for pretty close to what they cost new with a renovation or two in them.

Weird. Canada has a 15 year import ban, meaning you could simply get one from Europe. The T4 gen ran from 1990 to 2003.

1990 was 25 years ago...plus if they sold in the US they probably also sold new in Canadia.

They only seem kinda cool until you work on them. Awful things.

Yes. The engines themselves are good for the most part, but the transmissions are made out of glass, and they’re a pain in the ass to work on. Nice camping stuff, but it’s hard to use on the back of a tow truck.
